Russian Scientists created a test that detects cancer at an early stage

The Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology "Vector" has presented a new test that can detect the cancer patient's DNA at a very early stage.

On the opening Tass said one of the developers of the test system, a research fellow center Vitaly Kuznetsov. The test detects the presence of cancer at an early stage on the DNA extracted from blood, saliva or urine of the patient.

Most of the existing test determines whether there is a tumor in the body, by the presence of specific proteins in the blood. This diagnosis can detect cancer at a relatively late stages when the chances of cure is much less than at the beginning of the disease.

The new technique does not analyze blood proteins, and certain modifications of the DNA specific to cancer cells. They appear long before beginning to be identified in the blood of tumor-specific proteins. According to the developers, the method can detect tumors even at the first stage of the disease, and the detection of 90-95%.

Such diagnostic systems exist abroad, but they are more expensive new development "vector". "Similar systems have abroad, but we are not certified. It uses complex and expensive chemical method of detection. Cost analysis - 150 euros, that is 10-11 thousand rubles. At the same time they look only one tumor marker and the "sensitivity" of the result of about 60% ", - says Kuznetsov.

On the basis of established technology, scientists are planning to develop a test for the diagnosis of colon cancer, and in the future - tests for detection of lung cancer, stomach and breast cancer.
